Dinner in Cusco, Day 3

Image
What a feast at a very nice restaurant across the street from our hotel, which is only a couple blocks from the main square in the city.  No guinea pig on the menu tonight, however, alpaca tenderloin and river trout ceviche did not disappoint.  Whether it's the altitude, the beauty of this ancient city, or the hospitality, giddy seems like the appropriate adjective to describe our arrival in Cusco. Heading to Machu Piccu early Monday morning. Sorry Kathy, no baby pool green paint push-up rituals at the equator...and the water is suspiciously still swirling clockwise, in the southern hemisphere...more investigation to follow...

Saturday morning in Lima, Day 3

What a gift to have a bed, a shower, a friendly face to greet us at 2:30am in the Lima airport. Our Peru contact is Juan and he's put us at ease, answering our questions and explaining the logistics of our stay. We are gathering in the hotel, before heading back to the airport for our Cusco flight.  In great spirits, rested, a relaxing morning...lots of coffee.  WOW, we are at the precipice of an incredible journey.  Eyes wide and hearts open.

Montreal to Lima, Sat night, Day 2

We are in the air, somewhere over the Bahamas, beautiful sunset.  A tired bunch of travelers, we've been moving for the last 32 hours.  Besides the occasional 1000 yard stare and 13 pairs of red eyes, I've heard not a single complaint. This morning, we headed into Montreal on a city bus from the airport.  Walking around the Old Port, the city was very quiet.  After eating at a mediocre diner, the weather turned to rain/snow and getting soaked cancelled our Montreal walking tour.  We found a bus stop and went back to the airport for relaxing naps, roaming the airport, water drinking, people watching and board games.  Montreal will be there on the other end too. We have another 24 hours of travel before we land in Cusco.  Looking forward to a middle of the night hotel bed in seven or eight hours.  Spending a second night on a plane is a bit surreal, and why do these LED cabin lights slowly keep changing colors?  Wait, are these cabin lights changing colors? A bit past midwa
